TITLE: ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Energy and the Environment are essential factors of sustainable development. Sustainable development is development without compromising the opportunities of future generations to meet their needs. Globalization, intensification, innovation, research and sustainable development, they are the driving forces 21st century, addressed by development and competition in order to guarantee development and employment. With population growth and economic development, states need to think about developing a strategy of sustainable development and environmental protection. Innovative scientific research is increasingly being promoted, at low cost, without environmental pollution, without defects and perfect processes of sustainable industrial production.

To emphasize that coal in Kosovo is the main resource, but also the main producer of electricity and today the most encouraging producer for a sustainable environment. “Kosova” power plants, annually, donate about 2 million tons of ash, about 100,000t sulfur, 12t arsenic, about 3t beryl, 1t cadmium, 351t nickel, 492t titanium, 191t manganese, etc.

Energy and Environment, surround us on all sides with applications that reach the top in every sector of society that extends from factories, cars, buildings, etc. “Therefore, linking Energy and the Environment by training future generations of engineers and providing a comprehensive set of skills is very important for the energy engineering industry as a whole as well as for the environment and society.

Upon completion participants will be able to:

  • demonstrate basic knowledge about the use and storage of electricity in the Kosovo market
  • talk about education and awareness of energy expended
  • know the most appropriate use in the connection of communication technology -internet
  • understand how to reduce air pollution
  • understand how to reduce dependence on coal, fossil and nuclear fuels
  • start, design and build a renewable energy system

Target groups:

Based on the characteristics of the sectoral levels of KOST, KEDS, MUQA Solar, KHMI target groups are stakeholders belonging to the spheres of different activities and disciplines: from the fields of the energy sector, the field of the communication technology sector (internet) , the field of environment, to the field of online research and education and community work (e.g. professors-students). The general objective for all participants is to develop knowledge in the whole process of the Summer Academy program cycle in the field of energy and environment.
