TITLE: Concepts for Sustainability
Overview:
The Ubt-Faculty of Architecture and Spatial planning Summer Academy 2024 is focused on “Concepts for Sustainability” This intensive program is designed for students, professionals, and enthusiasts passionate about integrating sustainable practices into architectural design and urban planning. Over the course of 5 days, participants will engage in a series of lectures, field trips and projects all aimed at fostering a deep understanding of sustainable development and its application in the built environment.
Program Structure:
The Summer Academy is organized into four comprehensive modules, each featuring expert lectures, interactive sessions, field trips, and 4 small projects:
- Urban Planning and Design:
- Lectures: Explore strategies for sustainable urban planning, including smart growth, urban intervention, and green infrastructure.
- Field Trip: Visit a local urban site to develop a project.
- Project: Design a tactical urban intervention project.
- Architectural Design:
- Lectures: Learn about adaptive reuse, energy-efficient systems, and sustainable construction techniques, the use of AI and urban farming.
- Field Trip: Tour an existing building to make a sustainable intervention project.
- Project: Create a design for a sustainable building.
- Architectural Heritage:
- Lectures: Understand the importance of preserving architectural heritage while integrating sustainable practices and create contemporary architecture.
- Field Trip: Explore a heritage site and study the elements.
- Project: Develop e small project integrating studied elements from the field trip to create contemporary architecture.
- Energy Efficiency:
- Lectures: Delve into renewable energy sources and energy-efficient systems for buildings and urban areas.
- Field Trip: Visit a facility that showcases innovative energy-efficient technologies.
- Project: Design an energy-efficient system for a building or urban area
