TITLE:
Modern Science and Its Role in the Future of Health
Introduction – Overview
The Summer Academy “Modern Science and Its Role in the Future of Health”, organized by the Faculty of Medical Biochemistry within the framework of Global UBT Fest 2026, aims to provide an academic, scientific, and practical platform for students, young professionals, and all participants interested in the fields of biomedical sciences, medical biochemistry, laboratory diagnostics, molecular biology, health ecology, and modern technologies in healthcare.
This Summer Academy is designed as an interdisciplinary program that combines professional lectures, scientific presentations, interactive discussions, practical laboratory sessions, and study visits. Through this program, participants will have the opportunity to become familiar with contemporary developments in modern health sciences, the importance of laboratory analyses in modern diagnostics, the role of biochemical markers in various diseases, as well as the impact of environmental and technological factors on human health.
The program includes a wide range of current topics, starting from the “One Health” approach, biochemical markers in hematological malignancies, the management of chronic myeloid leukemia, the biophysics of UVA/UVB radiation, the effects of air pollution on physiological parameters, the clinical importance of homocysteine, as well as innovative topics such as the biochemistry of silicon-based organisms, alternative biological systems, and the use of deep learning models in the prediction of minimal genomes. These topics reflect the modern and interdisciplinary character of the academy.
Special attention is also given to the practical component, where participants will be involved in laboratory sessions supervised by academic and professional staff. These activities aim to connect theoretical knowledge with practical application, develop laboratory skills, strengthen critical thinking, and prepare students for real professional challenges. In addition, the study visit will enable participants to become more familiar with the professional environment and the practical application of the knowledge gained during the academy.
In conclusion, the Summer Academy aims to contribute to the academic and professional development of participants, to encourage cooperation between students, academic staff, and professionals in the field, and to promote modern science as a key factor in shaping the future of health.
