TITLE: Health professionals before, during and after the COVID 19 pandemic

Health care workers around the world have responded to requests for treatment of COVID-19 patients, potentially at significant cost to their health and well-being. During this period, the impact of COVID-19 on the mental health of frontline workers and calls for psychosocial support for them have also been highlighted. Moreover the need for diagnosis and teamwork has been not only a challenge for health workers. So far, however, little attention has been paid to understanding the impact of work on a pandemic from the perspective of healthcare workers themselves or what their views on support are. The experiences of health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic are not unprecedented; the topics that emerged from previous pandemics and epidemics are extremely resonant with what we are hearing about the impact of COVID-19 worldwide today.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Analyze the health and psychosocial requirements of patients (and their families) seeking emergency care in emergency situations
  • Apply relevant knowledge in clinical practice situations within critical care settings.
  • Examine the impact of critical care settings on patients and their families and the strategies which health care workers can implement to minimize such actions.
  • Discuss the importance of effective communication, teamwork and timely evaluation of patients and scaling up for optimal patient outcomes.

Target groups:

Students of the Faculties of Technical Medical Sciences and other professors and lecturers.
