TITLE: SMART FOOD TECHNOLOGY FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

The Summer Academy, covers wide range of topics. Innovatively, producing on such short time a matrix of possible combination on food chain that people, communities and industry face daily.

Therefore, participants will experience real life challenges beginning from projecting to implementing a safe and sustainable practice, from the agriculture, processing and nutrition sciences’ perspective. The challenges may be seen at individual, community level and large scale, in Kosovo, contributing by daily production or consumption on the topics covered by the Academy. Program, define food production opportunities, challenges and orientations on food production, processing and consumption in local and national level, including using the food as preventive measure for certain health problems.

The academy, cover topics that society on 21st century is discussing such are estimating and assuring application of “Food Safety” concept, sustainability, Food Valorizations and Processing, microbiology and impact of food and biofortifications and standards along the chain. Academy, inform about the role of certification schemes, the sectorial developments of fruit and vegetable sectors, beverage industry and standards for microorganisms, allergens and minerals at processing level and above all the healthy nutrition for disease prevention and management.

Upon completion, participants will be able to::

  • to evaluate the safety and sustainability, of production, processing and healthy consumption
  • Understand sectorial importance beginning from projecting at field and processing level.
  • Become more familiar with the certification schemes, development of various sectors in Kosovo, allergens, microorganisms, and safety standards at food and beverage industry. will gain insight knowledge what are upcoming challenges, needs of society and industry they are going to face as researchers and as experts and what they expect from them to solve on the near future
